John on Kathleen Wynne's 1st Throne Speech
Here is part two of the feature chat and performance with John McDermotte
This is the segment where he sings Danny Boy - acapella - while sitting - not standing. Enjoy
The sweetest rendition of " Danny Boy " you will ever hear!
Back in 1998 while I was between gigs at CFRB and 680 News radio, I funded and produced series of pilot television segments out of frustration that there were no Canadian networks investing, or finding value in a one-on-one Interview series like the one I was hosting on CFRB. That has since changed with Peter Mansbridge's one on one segment, Strombo's Hour and Bold TV's uptake of Jian Ghomeshi's stellar interview on CBC's radio program Q - not to mention Allan Gregg's series on T.V. Ontario.
One of the first Pilots featured Canadian Tenor John McDermotte who's career I helped fuel through radio interviews at Christmas that sent listeners to the " then " record stores by the thousands in search of his CD's John generously agreed to help with the Pilots by appearing for a chat and spontaneous performance. These segments never did make it onto Canadian Television screens but thanks to YOU TUBE, ( yes, I own the copyrights) a worldwide audience can enjoy what Canadians were denied.
I've posted the segments in two parts. Stay with it long enough to hear McDermotte sing Danny Boy, - acapella - while SITTING on the couch. It is one of the sweetest rendition you will ever hear.
